The registration process differs from state to state - it is always best to reach out to your local departments for the most accurate information.

Typically, the process for South Australians begins from the completion of fabrication. The completed trailer build must be taken to the closest appropriate Service SA location, typically at Service SA Regency Park. The staff will then conduct an inspection of the trailer, and inform you of the results.

If compliant, they will provide you with a VIN. You then must have the chassis stamped with this number, and a compliance plate stamped with the registration details, and secured to the trailer. We are able to offer both drawbar stamping and compliance plate stampin. 

If non-compliant, a report of the failing components and criteria will be provided, which must be resolved, either yourself, or by a trailer repairer, before taking it in for a follow up inspection.

Please note that this process is only for the registration of a personal quantity of trailers (under 6 per year) and further engineering and compliance steps must be taken for those produced in a commercial quantity.
