When ordering a replacement trailer axle, we will need to know the overall length (tip to tip) or the hub face to hub face measurement.
It is important to ensure these measurements are correct as the slightest change in axle length can cause wheels to rub on your chassis or guards.
When ordering an axle for a new trailer build you will need to know several things:
What is the trailers chassis width
What wheels will I be using and what is their back space
What axle rating will I require
A:STUB MEASUREMENT – The measurement from the face of the hub to the tip of the axle. Each axle rating has a different stub measurement (see below).
B:WHEEL BACKSPACE – The measurement from the face of the hub to the rear tyre bulge (see below).
C:WHEEL GAP – The measurement of the space between the tyre bulge and the trailer chassis.
D:CHASSSIS – The measurement of the trailer chassis on the outer most points.

To measure your wheels backspace, place the wheel on the ground face up.
Then measure from the ground to where the wheel meets the hub face. (mm)
This is to ensure the wheel wont rub on the trailer chassis.
